Position:  SVP, Engineering

Location:  This position may be located in Sun Valley, ID or Denver, CO.


The SVP, Engineering is a key role in Marketron’s Executive Management Team providing technology leadership, vision and direction. Reporting directly to the CEO, this role is responsible for maintaining existing systems, while continually evolving all aspects of technology systems and services to align with the strategic corporate objectives. This role will oversee the software development and IT operations teams, ensuring excellent internal customer service and project management execution.


  • Responsible for the design, development, and implementation of new products and features while efficiently collaborating with and managing all stakeholders.
  • Accountability for all aspects of detailed application architecture, software design, development and deployment of Marketron’s applications.
  • Ability to offer strategic guidance on application architecture, solutions, integration strategies, governance, quality assurance and business support processes.
  • Responsible for aligning engineering teams across a diverse set of practices, technologies and toolsets into a cohesive standards-based organization.
  • Responsible for a forward-looking roadmap that increases business capabilities, improves IT operational stability and reduces time of delivery based on current and future trends.
  • Plan and execute development projects while ensuring that teams have necessary product knowledge, technical specifications, direction and resourcing to deliver projects on an aggressive, but achievable timeline.
  • Continuously improve existing software architecture and applications while maintaining service levels and high code quality.
  • Responsible for attracting, developing and retaining engineering staff focused on solution architecture, process improvement and software engineering.
  • Manage to an approved data infrastructure budget.
  • Negotiate enterprise short-term and long-term software and hardware agreements.
  • Develop strategy plans for the direction and management of corporate infrastructure including but not limited to its data centers, servers, PCs, network, telephony and enterprise storage.
  • Assist in any company audits by internal or external entities.
  • Maintain and enhance cybersecurity policies and procedures.
  • Maintain and enhance disaster recovery policies and procedures and execute quarterly disaster recovery tests.

Required Education and Experience:

  • 15+ years of senior technical leadership experience.
  • 5+ years past experience as either a Director of Technology (at a large enterprise) or VP of Technology or CTO.
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field; advanced degree is a plus.
  • Strong technology architecture experience (both server infrastructure and application architecture).
  • Knowledge of programming languages with an emphasis on .NET and Ruby on Rails.
  • Experience with MS SQL Server, PostgreSQL, Datacenter Colocation, Private Cloud and Public Cloud Infrastructures.
  • Multiple software development and technology environment experience; vendor management, desktop support, and QA is required.
  • Ability to influence and align key stakeholders towards a common goal, drive results and facilitate change.
  • Professional and positive approach, self-motivated, strong in building relationships, team player, creative with the ability to work on own initiatives.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Manage diverse, simultaneous projects of varying complexities.
  • Relentless with best practices and willing to discuss the choices you make with your fellow engineers.

Preferred Experience:

  • Experience with API and Services based architectures.
  • Possesses strong organizational and software development skills.
  • Experience in building multi-tenant SaaS applications.
  • Experience with Agile methodology.
  • Experience with data analytics such as Redshift and Kinesis/Spark.

Working Conditions:

  • Constantly involves sitting, using hands to handle or feel, reaching with hands and arms, talking and hearing
  • Must have sufficient manual dexterity to work with the fingers and to reach/handle items
  • Involves light physical activity performing non-strenuous daily activities of primarily administrative nature
  • May be exposed to moderate noise levels (i.e. computers, printers, or light traffic)
  • May be required to work occasionally in evenings and/or weekends
  • May require travel domestically and internationally
