MARKETRON INTERNATIONAL SIGNS GROUP CONTRACT WITH EMMIS Top Ten Radio Group to Deploy Marketron Broadcast Management Solutions Across All U.S. StationsBurlingame, Calif.—October 14, 2003— Marketron International announced a multi-year group-wide contract with Emmis Communications Corporation (NASDAQ: EMMS). Under the agreement, Marketron will provide integrated sales, traffic, billing and business intelligence software to all Emmis radio stations in the United States. Emmis is the seventh largest radio group in the United States by audience, with concentration in top markets including New York, Los Angeles, Chicago and Austin. The high volume of business generated by each Emmis station places significant demands on the systems that manage sales activities, inventory and accounts receivables. Emmis selected the Marketron Radio solution for its proven performance, integrated platform and real-time reporting. “Emmis built its business on innovation and a deep commitment to each of the local communities we serve,” said Rick Cummings, President of Emmis Radio. “At the heart of our success lies a passionate, talented and knowledgeable employee base. We needed a broadcast management solution that could unite our staff across departments to both better support their efforts and deliver the best value to our advertisers and listeners.” “Marketron is honored to add Emmis to our growing list of group-wide partnerships,” said Mike Jackson, CEO of Marketron International. “The extensive due diligence conducted by one of the top radio groups further validates the strength of the Marketron offering. We are excited to begin delivering significant revenue and productivity benefits across all U.S. Emmis radio stations.” Emmis will begin implementing the Marketron Radio solution in November 2003. Marketron Radio: Connecting the Broadcast Enterprise The Marketron Radio solution integrates all departments and business processes across a station into a single system and database. Integration enables the sales, traffic and business departments to more easily share information, better optimize inventory and increase revenues. Storing sales and inventory information in a common database allows for real-time access to data. Corporate managers can check numbers for individual stations or the entire group from their desktop; sales managers make informed approval decisions in seconds; traffic directors manage available inventory more effectively because they have the most complete information. Connecting all departments electronically also eliminates redundant data entry and associated errors. Salespeople spend more time selling; traffic managers focus on optimizing inventory; station revenues increase. About Emmis Communications—Great Media, Great People, Great
