VT Scheduling Process

VT uses several methods to spot scheduling, and they are discussed in the main Visual Traffic on-line manual. As far as the Scheduler dialog is concerned, VT places scheduling jobs into the scheduling list or queue based on priority. High priority items will be scheduled before items of lower priority.

As new orders are entered and sent to the scheduler, VT displays their progress in the queue. If VT is working on a scheduling process, it will complete the process before moving to the next item. This is true even if a newer item of higher priority appears in the queue. VT will finish the current job first and then begin the next job with the highest priority.

Dynamic Scheduling

VT frequently reschedules Dynamic log days when not scheduling new or changed orders. These are logs online and available but not ready for airplay. After Dynamic log status, logs progress through a Pigeon Hole and finally an Official log status.

VT re-evaluates Dynamic days to find a "best fit" for all available orders. As new orders are added and some old orders are changed, VT may find a different scheduling situation than it did when the log was first scheduled.

VT re-schedules Dynamic log days one station at a time, a full day at a time. All spots on the logs are removed from the log and the day is totally re-scheduled just as if it were being scheduled for the first time. The difference is that VT can now re-schedule the day to include newer orders and changed orders which may have higher priority than orders previously placed on the log.
