Placing a Bumped Spot onto a Log

There are two ways to place a single bump spot on the log. One method is to select the spot you want on the bump spot list and Drag and Drop it on the log avail location you want. You can even scroll the log to another location by holding the spot and approaching the upper and lower edge of the displayed log. You can also click Drop Spot and the bump spot will be moved to the currently selected avail position on the log.

An asterisk (*) always appears to the left of the avail position number to indicate the spot has been manually placed on the log.

Do not dally as you drag a spot onto the log. If you hesitate at the log edge as you cross over from the bump list to the log, the log may begin scrolling.

The other method of placing a bump spot on the log can be done without using the mouse. First, select the bump spot you want to schedule. You can do this with the mouse, but another way is to press ALT+B to focus on the bump list. Now use the arrow keys to scroll up and down through the bump list. Highlight the spot you want to put on the log. Now change the Log Editor focus to the log by pressing ALT+L. You can now scroll the log. Stop when you have the correct avail position highlighted. Now press D for "drop." This places the bump spot on the log.

You can also select the bump spot, the avail location on the log, and then click Drop Spot or use the shortcut key ALT+r.

To place a bump spot on the log you must always select the bump spot first, then select the log location, and finally drop the spot. When you select the bump spot, you cannot place the spot on the log until you actively select a log avail. This is true even if the log avail is already highlighted when you select the bump spot.

You can not place two spots on the same log avail position. If you drop a spot on an existing one, the existing spot is moved to the bump list.

You may see the Spot Placement and Conflict Warnings dialog when you try to place a spot on the log. This is a warning dialog that tells you there is something in conflict with placing the spot on this log or at least at this log location. The dialog will provide all of the information.

If you want to flag a spot as a Make Good, check the Make Good box on the Spot Detail floating dialog with the spot selected. An M appears on the log listing between the spot length and priority to indicate a spot is a Make Good.
